This was an eventful year for the Detroit Chapter of TiE. We moved forward on a number of initiatives. The like-minded entrepreneurs of TiE Detroit with their dedication and selfless commitment to build and nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs organized several business networking opportunities in the form of events, seminars, workshops and mentorships.

This year, TiE Detroit is back with another TiECon Midwest event on October 28 and 29 at The Henry in Dearborn, Michigan. The event will concentrate on creativity and innovation as the primary drivers of entrepreneurial success. As Peter F. Drucker rightfully said, “Innovation is the specific tool of entrepreneurs, the means by which they exploit change as an opportunity for a different business. Entrepreneurs need to search purposefully for the sources of innovation, the changes and their symptoms that indicate opportunities for successful innovation. And they need to know and to apply the principles of successful innovation.”

TiECon Midwest 2010 is Michigan’s largest entrepreneurial conference aiming to nurture the budding entrepreneurs to veterans. Our economy is coming off the worst recession since the great depression. Here in Michigan we have been hit hard with companies becoming bankrupt, job losses and many businesses closing their doors. The timing could not be better to focus on growth and forwards looking strategies. With hundreds of business, industry leaders, venture capitalists and government officials attending TiECon, this TiE Conference will provide information on starting, growing and exiting a business. The event will focus on high growth potential industries and offer you great networking opportunities. Attendees will have the chance to create, connect and collaborate with the best and brightest from the Midwest.

Our core team and volunteers are putting together an awesome program this year and I assure you that you will be vowed and delighted at the conference. Some of the highlights of TiECon 2010 are: TiE20, where we award Top 20 emerging companies in the region and the goal here again is to find the next Microsoft, Oracle and Google of the world. We will also have a Business Plan Competition that will spot bright ideas, probably will help to locate the next Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook. We have the Extreme Power Connect which provides extremely targeted networking opportunities. It is not what you know that matters, it is who you know that matters, keeping that in mind, we have come up with this unique program this year. You will also hear from high profile speakers in both technical and general business sections.
