Matt Roush

Matt Roush was named director of media relations and managing editor of the University News Bureau at Lawrence Technological University in February. Roush was previously director of communications and public relations at The Engineering Society of Detroit. At LTU, Roush manages the university’s twice-a-year alumni magazine as well as the annual magazine of LTU’s College of Engineering. He also manages the university's media relations efforts, and with others in LTU's Office of Marketing and Public Affairs, creates content for additional university print and digital media. A lifelong Michigan resident, Roush has worked for newspapers, magazines, radio stations, and online media across the state. After graduating from Albion College in 1978, he worked for newspapers in Three Rivers, Leland, Traverse City, and Kalamazoo. He moved to the Detroit area in 1990 to cover banking and finance for Crain’s Detroit Business. He began covering the internet for Crain's in 1994, and in 1998 became a full-time tech writer. From 2001 to 2013, Roush was the on-air technology editor for WWJ Newsradio 950 and also edited the Great Lakes IT Report, the station’s daily email newsletter covering the high tech industry from a Michigan perspective. Roush is the winner of numerous journalism awards from the Associated Press, United Press International, and the Association of Area Business Publications. He was named Michigan Small Business Journalist of the Year in 2009 by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Roush resides in Dearborn.
